    Thanks so much for this tutorial- it inspired me to order a nebula light. I found on on Amazon for only $15 but, when I opened it up, I discovered the motor is no longer a plain DC motor, they now use a mini stepper motor (5 wires)! 🤦‍ I don't suppose you would have any ideas on how to modify your tutorial to support using a stepper..? 🤔

    • @3ATIVE
      @3ATIVE 2 дня назад

      That's great to hear... the inspiration part, not the stepper motor version (That's a pain) I'm about to make a full-on Stepper Motor tutorial for ESPHome and Home Assistant. TBH, by the time you purchase all the extra components to drive the stepper motor yours has... it'll probably be a lot easier to grab the same Nebular Light I used. They are still available - See the link in the original tutorial. amzn.to/4axHx5r

    I'm wondering if I could use this for a set of blinds that are pull rather than twist to open and close blinds (not pull up/down). How you would take the small travel of the server guessing 50 > 100 mm and get it to pull 200mm on the blinds.

    • @3ATIVE
      @3ATIVE 6 дней назад

      Not sure if a Servo would be the right choice here, as it may not be able to pull hard-enough. - _Especially as you want a 1:2 (2x) ratio on it._ I would go for a Stepper Motor for blinds, etc. With many more revolutions available, it would be easier to gear down to get the extra torque required. #StayTuned one of my up-coming tutorials is for Stepper Motors !!! ;)

    Thank you so much for the great tutorial. My question is that it appears as though on and off are "state changes" that trigger the node to run on Tplink Kasa switches (Master). Brightness changes do not trigger the node to run. I can change the brightness, turn off the master and turn it back on and it works. Any thoughts on why this is an issue?

    • @3ATIVE
      @3ATIVE 11 дней назад

      Thank you for the supportive words. I'm not sure what you are trying to do however, this tutorial is for one (or many) "Lights" to follow a "Master Light". So, I guess if your Master SWITCH is controlling a Light then this would work by following the State Change of that first Light.

    • @pjarbit
      @pjarbit 9 дней назад

      @@3ATIVE If I change the brightness, nothing happens. I have to turn the master off then on again for it to register any change to the brightness. It seems that there is no change in "state" of the brightness unless an on/off command is sent. I am using your most recent code. I am using TPLINK and MIBOXER are my master and slave. (Primary and Secondary in 2024 to be politically correct)

    • @pjarbit
      @pjarbit 9 дней назад

      Let me clarify. If I change the brightness on my TPlink deco switch (master) the master will change brightness with no change on the slave. If I then turn off the master and then back on: both the master and slave will register the newly set brightness. Changing the master brightness will not trigger an event change in the slave switch on its own without an on/off from the master. Is this how the YAML code is setup?

      The CCS811 boards are still available and the ENS160 does look to be a similar array of sensors. Both use the i2c bus and the code looks the same too. - I can't see any issues with using this other board.

    Would anybody know if I can use an S2 mini for this project, instead of the D1 mini? I have several S2 laying around... but the Pin names are different from the D1 mini, so I don't know how to map them...

    • @3ATIVE

      The code will be pretty much the same, apart from the setup and board type. So, if you search for the layout of a D1 Mini that'll also list the GPIO numbers. Then search for the same for your S2 Mini. Using both lists you'll be able to transpose.

    Awesome! My first project with microcontrollers. Took me a few hours to solder and configure. But it worked instantly as expected! Very well done project and instructions! One complication was, that I am not a left hander so the soldering iron always was on the wrong side of the picture 😂 The other was, that my microcontroller seems to have the chips on the other side of the board, so the cabling was also to be done on the opposite side. But the contact points are labelled so there was no problem to do everything "mirrored". I also noticed that the "CO2" sensor is no real CO2 sensor, but a T-VOC sensor. It only "estimates" eCO2 based on measured "volatile organic compounds". As a result, when I was preparing meal in the kitchen, the device suggested, that CO2 had risen from 400ppm to 1170ppm although all windows were fully open. This would be a ridiculous value for CO2 under these conditions. But I am sure that only the "organic compounds" had risen due to frying some potatoes (no, nothing got burned 🤣). The T-VOC value had risen from 0 to 335ppb. This seems reasonable. So, probably the T-VOC values are to be considered real, but the eCO2 values should be neglected. A real CO2 measurement probably would need a NDIR or PAS sensor. But they would not fit into the IKEA housing. So, as a summary: Well done project! Nice!

      It's always fantastic to hear my li'tutorials are working for peeps and everything worked first time - _Even if I do show everything 'Back-to-Front' LOL_ You're right, the Co² sensor used is a _'Virtual'_ level device. There's no claim to calibrated or scientific measurements... just an "indication" of air quality. So, should be _good enough_ monitor and take appropriate action - Opening a Window, Etc.
